ECHA reminds registrants to check declared company size

22-Feb-2012

ECHA has issued a reminder to registrants to check that their company size is correctly declared prior to the start of the small and medium sized enterprise (SME) verification process, to avoid paying additional fees if errors are subsequently found.

The agency states that the administrative charge will be waivered if registrants voluntarily declare a mistake in their company size before they are contacted by ECHA to verify the declared SME status. However, once the verification process has been initiated the company will be required to pay an administration fee, in addition to the balance of the fee applicable for the correct company size.

SMEs benefit from fee reductions under both REACH and CLP Regulations. However, the results of the last year's verifications show that a high proportion of examined companies that had paid reduced fees did not qualify for the reductions (CW 25 November 2011).
