Summary Chemical Watch is looking for a Washington correspondent to help it strengthen its coverage of US federal chemical policy developments. The position will likely be a part-time, but Chemical Watch will consider other options for the right candidate.
Details

To help it stay ahead of the curve and expand its US coverage, Chemical Watch is looking for a Washington-based journalist to monitor the EPA and other agencies, Congressional Committees, Washington-based industry and public interest lobby groups.

  • Do you have experience of reporting on chemicals policy, the chemicals industry, and/or related environmental issues—and some familiarity with key non-US regulatory programs, especially REACH in the EU?

  • Do you have contacts in at least some of the organizations mentioned above?

  • Do you have journalistic experience – can you write concisely, accurately and well?
    Are you a self-starter who is hungry for stories and enjoys the chase?

  • Would you like a long-term opportunity with an exciting and well-respected publishing program that is expanding globally?

The right candidate must be able to work:

  • At least part of every day to ensure the news is reported as it happens;

  • Attend local events and report on them;

  • Able to work collegially with an already-established US correspondent who is based in Oregon

  • As well as working virtually with a center of operations in the UK – some travel to the UK may be required.

As well as writing news, the correspondent would also be required to contribute the occasional feature for the Chemical Watch Business Briefing.
